Climate protection becomes inspiring for schools
Mission: Schools are key institutions for climate protection. Students' experiences shape their values, attitudes, and behaviors. boxes4change Climate embeds climate protection in everyday elementary school life with a practical offering. IMPCT has supported the development and establishment of boxes4change since 2023.
Challenge: Often, there isn't enough time in everyday school life to address the climate crisis. The practical relevance and clarity of the topics depend heavily on the commitment of individual teachers, and finding good teaching materials is often difficult.
Solution: boxes4change Climate informs students about climate change and its impacts and encourages them to take active steps against the climate crisis. With its innovative concept and illustrative materials, boxes4change Climate promotes a fundamental understanding of climate, energy, and environmental protection in the spirit of education for sustainable development and helps sensitize children to sustainable action at an early and age-appropriate stage. The project has already been successfully implemented in around 60 elementary schools and envisions reaching many more schools. Boxes4change Climate makes a significant contribution to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals by creating a solid foundation for a comprehensive understanding of the interrelationships and challenges in the areas of sustainability and climate protection.
Implementation: IMPCT has been working closely with boxes4change since 2023 to build a robust and sustainable organizational structure and expand the offering beyond the local framework to additional schools. Our goals are to establish our own revenue chains, improve the product, and work on scalability. Through joint efforts, we aim to shape a future in which environmental awareness and sustainability are firmly embedded in education.
Intended impact: By scaling up boxes4change Climate, more elementary school students will gain access to relevant climate education. Teachers accompanying the classes will be involved and motivated to incorporate boxes4change Climate into the school curriculum, thus contributing to advancing the sustainability transformation (with a focus on climate protection).
