THE LÖWENHAUS

Access to education and a future for all children

Task: Children and young people from socially challenging backgrounds need targeted offers and individual support that enable a self-determined future.

Challenge: Many of these children and young people come from families living on the poverty line. They take on responsibility too early, care for younger siblings or parents, and put their own needs aside. This has a profound impact on their development.

Solution: The Löwenhaus (Lion House) is an important place of contact for children and young people aged 6 to 14 (and beyond), their second home. Here, they receive the protection and security they need for their further development. Based on the five-pillar model developed by IMPCT (health, creative, cultural, and personal development, education, sustainability, and digitalization), the children and young people acquire developmentally necessary skills through everyday activities, workshops, and educational units. The children have access to motivating homework support, varied meals, games, fun, and a wide range of leisure activities.

Implementation: IMPCT has been supporting the Löwenhaus since fall 2019. Together with the Löwenhaus management, we have developed a sustainable, effective overall strategy, advanced digitalization and public presence, and designed an effective fundraising strategy. This strategy is provided with an important foundation by the annual impact report we develop.

Impact: The children and young people expand their skills in areas such as creativity, education, sustainability, and intercultural exchange. They are sensitized to these topics and learn how to integrate this awareness into their lives and those of their families. The Löwenhaus has already paved the way for a self-determined future for over 2,100 children and young people.
